Environmental Protection Office

Through the General Assistance Program the Cahuilla Band of Indians established the Cahuilla Tribal Environmental Office (CTEPO).  The CTEPO is supported by the tribe to address all environmental concerns of the tribe.  The CTEPO is there to protect and preserve the natural resources of our native people.  Through this program a Tribal environmental plan, solid waste management plan, and GIS/GPS program have been implemented.  The CTEPO has developed a solid waste transfer station for all tribal members to utilize for waste management.  Through this grant the tribe also developed a tribal emergency response committee (TERC) to assist tribal members in the time of natural and man made disasters.
